Well said Kay,
I run a Patcomm 16000A/E that is capable of doing 5-75 wpm. I only use it 
for DX if it is a Country/Entity that I can't get on SSB.
I am a graduate of the High Speed CW course at Ft Devens and was a High 
Speed Intercept Op in the late 50's (And that's with multiple ssss's, Hi) Of 
course that's 5 letter groups, random code and totally useless today. Now if 
code is used, it's at a MUCH faster speed, taped, slowed down, and then 
decoded.
The secret is to use what you are comfortable with, and capable of.
