Life is too short for QRS :>)
I typically send 34-36 wpm, and may crank it up to 38 if I have a good
pileup going. I've had a number of people tell me that they knew who I was before
they heard my call, just because of the high speed. Of course they may also
confuse me with W3USA/m
If I get a slow caller, I QRS as quickly as I can to somewhere close to his
speed. If I am answering somebody's CQ, I try to send near his speed.
A number of people have noted a phenomona in other contests in which slowing
down will get a rise in the number of callers, but that *increasing* speed
will also get a rise in the number of callers! There are people out there
who are good CW ops who will jump in for a quick efficient qso, who may not be
inspired to slog their way through a slow qso with an unskilled op.
Different strokes for different folks.
