Hi Tim and the PaQP group,
Sure glad to see the activity pick back up on the reflector. We're almost
there!
Regarding code speed......when I call "CQ" I toggle between 32 and 30 wpm.
However, when I receive a response that is slower than my CQ speed, I
absolutely "slow 'er down" to match, as closely as I can, the station
responding to my call.
That said, I also watch the flow of the contest, meaning that if I have
people starting to ask me for repeats, I slow the CQ'ing down to maybe 24 or
26 wpm.
While I've operated at speeds of 36 to 38 wpm in the CW WW etc, I don't do
that in the PaQP. I think I would have a lot of unanswered calls.
So, let's have fun, at whatever speed!! Looking forward to hearing you all
on the air again!
Best regards,
Bob, N3FR (port WAR)

Subject: [PaQSO] CW speed and question about W3UU (Bonus station)
I am just wondering what the average code speed is realized in the PAQP?
How fast do you set your computer to send during the contest?
I've been doing a lot of work on my code to get my ear used to speeds
between
35 and 40 WPM and a bit higher but I wonder if a contest speed of 35 WPM
would be too fast and result in missing out on some calls.
Also, will W3UU be a multi-multi with activity on several bands/modes
simultaneously?
Just wondering...and looking forward to working all of you from many
different counties!
Tim
