Have a safe trip Ed, hope to work you from N3SH/Greene Saturday Night &
Sunday (assuming I can work out my own post-employment transportation down
there!)

Now getting back to W3UU... is there going to be a W3UU/Rover, or was that
based on a supposition that took on a life of it's own? We know about the 4
fixed W3UU stations, and as far as W3UU/M, well KQ3F has told us of it's
plans, but I've also heard nadda from a W3UU/R operation.

I know I was one of the ones early on speculating that for software logging
purposes, those who might have a problem should treat all the W3UU stations
as if they were W3UU/R... but outside of related speculations, I've heard
nothing from anyone actually associated with HRAC and/or a potential W3UU/R.
Guess sometimes we get so involved in dotting the "tees" and crossing the
"eyes" that we can forget that some potential situations never actually
happen or were intended to!

Tim, N8LXR asked:
>Can we really get as many as 3 W3UU QSO's
>per band/mode/county combination,
>at least in those county's that will also
>have "home" W3UU stations on the air?

Tim and all:

I had an email from one half of the mobile W3UU operation. He stated that
the mobile WILL NOT hit any of the counties that will have fixed station
operations planned, (CUM, PER, DAU and YOR).

So, you won't be able to get 3 W3UU's in any one county, but 2 might be a
possibility, as far as I know.

The only potential overlap is that the W3UU rover station may set up in one
of the counties, (CUM, PER, DAU or YOR) that have fixed operations or may
set up in one or more counties that the mobile also hits. With emphasis on
"MAY". I have not heard anything from anyone associated with the rover
station. Perhaps things are planned such that the rover and mobile will
avoid each others counties AND avoid the four"fixed" station counties.

But if there is some county overlap, if the rover sets up in ADA and the
mobile also goes through ADA, then you might get W3UU/M in ADA on 40 SSB in
your log along with W3UU/R in ADA on 40 SSB.

And if that happens, per Chuck, K3CM, you can work them BOTH in that county
on that band/mode for QSO points AND for bonus points.

I have no problems with that. Chuck stated his logic (not that he really
needed to, but that was nice of him), and now we are all on the same page.

This is probably my last post to the reflector before the contest. I'll be
on the road around noon today heading for Prince Gallitizin State Park.

Good luck to all.

Safe motoring to the mobiles.

To all the rovers, stay away from the poison ivy while setting up (or is
all the poison ivy dead by this time of year?).

And to all you other portables, here's hoping you find that you packed
everything you need.

Ed
