Now that most of the pre-party stuff is done, I can take a short breather
and make a posting to the group.
All announcement packets to participants in the '00, '01, and '02 parties
and letters to plaque sponsors have been mailed. The reason it was late is
mostly because we wanted to get an email address set up to receive
electronic submission of logs and wanted to have this finalized before
announcements were printed. I can envision the party coordinator receiving
the logs in his personal mailbox and becoming incapacitated two days after
the submission deadline in which case no one would be able to retrieve the
logs. For this reason, I have been insistent that this email account
should not be any person's personal account and should be dedicated to PA
QSO Party logs and nothing else. Unfortunately, it took nearly two months
to get this done and involved our getting a new host for PA QSO Party web
pages. While we were at it, we moved all Nittany ARC web pages. A bonus
from this is that we can now have lots of email addresses and will soon
have one for you to communicate with the party coordinator regardless of
who he may be.
Because the mailing was late, it was sent first class rather than using the
club's bulk mail permit.
Anyone who did not participate in the 2000, 2001, or 2002 QSO party and
wants to receive the announcement packet should send me and email at
[email protected] and I will get one off to you ASAP. You can also download the
information from the Nittany-ARC.org web site.
ELECTRONIC LOG SUBMISSION AVAILABLE FOR 2003
There are now three ways for you to submit your PA QSO Party logs:
1. You may send paper copies of everything to the Nittany ARC post office
box address as you have done in the past.
2. You may send logs and dupe sheets on IBM formatted magnetic media or CD
to the Nittany ARC post office box address.
3. You may email your logs and dupe sheets to [email protected].
PLEASE NOTE: PA STATIONS ARE STILL REQUIRED TO SUBMIT A PAPER SUMMARY FORM
to the Nittany ARC post office box address. Mobiles and Rovers...don't
forget that, in addition to an overall summary, a separate summary for each
county/location is required. Out-of-state stations are requested but not
required to do the same, and DX stations are exempt from submitting a
summary form. ALSO, if you are applying for the Worked All 67 Counties
Plaque, you must submit a list of the stations worked in alphabetical by
county order.
T-SHIRTS AVAILABLE FOR 2003
In response to many comments after last year's party, we are making a
t-shirt available to anybody who submits an entry or operates with a
multi-op station that submits an entry in the 2003 party. The design has
not been finalized but will be centered around an outline of the state map
with the counties outlined and named. Text on the shirt will probably
include the words "Participant" and "2003 PA QSO Party". We're open to
suggestions on this one. Cost will be $10.00.
COFFEE MUGS STILL AVAILABLE
The "100 QSO Club" coffee mug will still be available. The qualify, you
must sublit a log showing at least 100 QSOs. We will use the traditional
design but the colors will be different than last year. Cost will remain
at $15.00.
WORKED ALL 67 COUNTY PLAQUE STILL POPULAR
The popular "Worked All 67 Counties in the PA QSO Party" plaque will be
offered again. Last year, there were 34 stations who received this award
and we're looking forward to many for 2003. We were able to reduce the
cost this year to $25.00.
ANSWERS COMING
To any of you who emailed questions to my personal address, I should have
time to get answers to you this week. I haven't been ignoring
anybody...just opting to spend the little time I had on the party
itself. Thanks for your patience.

Chuck - K3CM
