Maybe I should just let this thing die, but I will make this post, then
speak nevermore on the issue.
I feel some responsibility for Mike feeling he needed to apologize for
something, and perhaps causing him some "pain" regarding the issue. If
that's the case, I apologize to you Mike.
But:
1. I, for one, expected no apologies nor do I think any were/are necessary.
2. I understand the NARC has no "official" capacity with this reflector.
3. I stand by what I said twice before, I did not/do not think it will have
any negative impact on participation, but what was the big deal with
someone from NARC posting something, even a "Cool it guys, we're working on
it" kind of comment when the wondering began. (Or maybe there was something
on the reflector or elsewhere stating the situation, and it just went over
my head?)
4. Two private replies I received indicated that the lack of current info
may have cost them some help/participation.
There were also related postings concerning the thankless nature and time
consuming effort involved on the part of the organizers of the event. Well,
maybe they can never be thanked enough, but I think it is not thankless. I
have seen, over and over, postings here thanking those involved.
I, through past "post contest" volunteer work, have shown my appreciation
of the effort involved to make this thing happen, and received all the
thanks necessary, many times over, to make myself feel appreciated for
those efforts. And this is not to imply that I think I'm unique, but rather
to show that there are many involved in making this thing the fun time that
it is.
I, as did a few others, felt it necessary to make comment(s) that suggested
maybe something could have been done early on to "head off" some problems.
What the heck is so wrong with that?
It seems that all to often that anything that can be construed as the least
bit negative..........is.
Very little, if anything, seems to be taken as constructive criticism.
Anyone who dares post something, no matter how slight the negative
connotation, does "not appreciate the effort" necessary to make this thing
come off or is trying to fix something that is not broke.
I stand by my comment(s), but shall, in the future, limit my postings here
to operational or otherwise innocous issues.
(No........Please.....hold the applause.....) ; >)
The End
73 all and looking forward to being "in the woods" of CMB county in two
weeks and a day from today. Hopefully 3 full days of "prep work" will allow
me to be in shape to offer a challenge to 'FR, 'LL, 'TDF and company for
the Portable or WPA medium power plaque.
