[PaQSO] PaQSO - Tower work?

Well,

I think a lot of what determines exactly what/where is "central PA" depends
on your point of view.

I don't think there's too much argument over "EPA" vs "WPA;" just draw a
line down the center of the state and adjust as per county lines. And of
course, we go by the ARRL section dividing line for the purposes of the
contest.

I think we can pretty much agree that the Philadelphia area is South East
PA, Wilkes Barre/Scranton/Poconos is more-or-less North East PA, Pittsburgh
& vicinity is South East PA, Erie & vicinity is North East PA, and of
course, State College (Centre County), the geographic center of the state,
is Central PA. But from there, things get trickier...

For example, Altoona & Bedford areas are South central. Williamsport &
Bradford are North central. Dubois is in the center. Harrisburg? Well,
it's either on the eastern end of the center or the western end of the east.
Of course, a lot depends on how big the "central" area is, too. Make the
center big enough, and you could make a case for Lancaster & York too... and
so on. Remember to some people, once you get away from the population
centers that are more-or-less in the four "corners" of the state, everything
in between is in the center.

It used to be easy. You'd start more or less this way courtesy of Mother
Bell: 412 area code was SW, 215 was SE, 717 was NE, and 814 was both the
center and NW (the Bell part being center, the non-Bell part being NW), and
again, adjusting accordingly. Between area code splits and overlays, that
still works IF you know where the original area codes where.

Personally, I don't care where any county is so long as I manage to work 'em
at least once in the contest!

Not getting on anyone's case here but i don't think the Lancaster,
Harrisburg, York areas are central PA. As i understand it, living there at
one time for school, Williamsport is the start of central PA and then State
College and so on. as i understand it the areas refered to is the
southeastern PA? if there is such a thing but i will stand correct if
someone else can explain.

Anyone in the central PA (Lancaster, Harrisburg, York areas) region do
any tower/rotor work? I think a gear in my rotor is shot. I need to
get it down, and I do have a local guy who repairs these things, but I
am not a climber and don't have a gin pole.

I do have a thrust plate on my tower, so I would simply need to lift the
beam out, remove the rotor, and store the rotor on top. Same thing in
reverse after it is repaired. I'd like to get it back up for the PA QSO
party..

Any suggestions?
