[PaQSO] Mid Atlantic QSO Party Ideas and Other stuff

I don't see this as a problem.

We already have 67 unique 3-letter identifiers for PA. What we'd have to
find out is whether or not the various counties (or city-county entities in
VA) already have similar identifier's for their local contests. If not,
then someone would just have to come up with some, but I'd wager that they
already exist! Granted, they might not be intuitive (BUX for Bucks was
great, DCO for Delaware County takes some thinking about, but how many of
you can rattle off CMB or CRN off the top of your head?), but you'll get
used to it.

Nor do I forsee a problem with computer logging programs. They can be fixed
if neccesary, honest they can!

But the real question is, will we get enough participation or interest from
the other proposed states? I don't forsee a real problem with DE or MD/DC,
nor with eastern VA, but WV might be a stretch. OTOH, I would certainly
consider NJ as a "Mid Atlantic" state -- and it's certainly closer to the
ocean than WV is!!

I checked the web-site (www.neqp.org) and I was correct. I.e. Washington
County, RI is WASRI, while Washington County, VT is WASVT. If we used
existing
designators for counties and suffix the two letters for the state, we may be
ok.

The only problem which may result is if any counties (or city counties in
VA)
have abbreviations longer than three characters. Then, if suffixed with the
two letters for the state, the resulting location designator will be 6
characters long. At that point the resulting designator may be too long
for many
existing computer logging files.
