Hey Gang,
This was my first time out since my QRP effort of 1998
and the multi-single effort of 1997 with my bother, er,
brother, W3MF. For a variety of reasons (some good,
some bad), I was only able to operate about 9 hours.
I really should do this more! Lots of things to learn
(like how to operate phone, which you really MUST do in
this contest)! Propagation would be another thing.
For example, if you want to work Europe or Japan, I can
tell exactly what bands to be on at what time. However,
to work a W5 or a W6, I don't have the slightest idea!
In any case, the whole thing turned into "check out the
station for CQWW." Wanted to see if the 80-75 broadband
dipole has any chance of working. The answer seems to be
yes. On Saturday night, I had a 73 hour on CW and a 125
hour on phone. Not that I knew what to do when they called,
but they just kept calling! 8^{)
With that much introduction (i.e., whining), here are the
gory sadistics:
Band CW Qs SSB Qs
---- ----- ------
80 98 145
40 161 160
20 7 83
---------------------------------
Totals are 654 Qs with 127 mults plus only 1 Q with W3KWH.
The grand total is roughly 106,372 points. Give or take.
Your mileage may vary. Subject to change without notice.
Void where prohibited by law.
Remind me to do this next year -- it really is a lot of fun!
Remind me to keep my butt in the chair a bit longer, too!
