[PaQSO] Special treat

Well, for those of you venturing out either as a mobile, a rover, or a
portable operation, it appears that nature is preparing a special treat this
year. We had a heavy freeze in Allegheny County last night and I'm sure the
mountainous counties experienced an even greater one. Combine that with the
heavier than normal rains this year and we should have a fantastic fall
foliage display.

So, for those who have never gone outside your county for the PaQP, if you
someday have the opportunity, do it. It is a splendid show indeed!

Ed, WA3SES, and I met at our favorite watering hole last night for our final
trash talking, strategy sharing, well wishing session before the big
weekend, and if confidence has anything to do with a decent score, we both
should do a-okay.

We talked a lot about high band operation, both of us agreeing that our
intentions are to hit them hard, right at the beginning of the contest, and
hit them often. The mults available on those bands is beyond compare, and
assuming the band conditions cooperate, I guarantee you won't be
disappointed.

And with our friends operating NP2SH from the Virgin Islands, you certainly
don't want to miss that scrumptious mult, now do you? How long has it been
since you were able to put VI in the log? If ever during this contest.

In addition to my normal antenna configuration, I'm putting up a 15 meter
dipole in hopes that DX will be plentiful. After all, there are at least 2
European contests going on during the PaQP....the Oceania DX Contest (CW),
and the EU Autumn Sprint (CW), and hopefully they will generate even more DX
contact potential.

So, it's time to dust off the rigs, tweak the tubes, oil up the paddles and
let 'em fly. Let's have some fun, in one of the best QSO Parties in the
world!

See you all in 8 days!

Good luck!

Bob, N3FR (port WAR)
