[PaQSO] Mobile Window

As a mobile, I'd love to have everyone honor the mobile window, but I
realize that it just isn't very practical. A lot of folks don't know about
it and nobody likes being chased off of what they think is a clear
frequency. And even if all PAQP participants avoid the windows, ragchewers
will quickly spot an unused frequency and jump on it. I have never counted
on being able to use the mobile windows. In fact, I couldn't even tell you
where they are. I usually go up and down the band calling guys and when I
think I can squeeze in somewhere, I'll try to get a run going. It's
surprising just how well you can do sometimes. Yes, I get beat up a lot,
but that's part of the mobile game.

What I and the other mobiles REALLY appreciate is when one of those big
CQing machines previously discussed says something like this after I call
and work him: "Say, would you like to have this frequency? I've been here
a while and it's dried up for me and I need to go spend some time on 15
meters." Or something like that. YES.

To do well in the PAQP, you need to have a balanced operation. In addition
to CQing, you need to go up and down the band working the other CQers,
switch between SSB and CW, and check out the other bands. So when it's time
to stop CQing and do something else, consider waiting until the next mobile
calls you and offer your frequency to him. You'll make a mobile and maybe a
lot of other folks very happy.
