All,
Bill, K8SYH and I KO4A worked from Laurel Hills state park (Somerset)
using my travel trailer as the radio shake. We were able to put up an 80 mtr
(272') sky wire loop about 40' off the ground. it was diamond shaped. We
feed it with 450 ohm ladder line into a SGC237 turner to the ICOM 706 MKIIG.
Some times after cutting the power for tuning we would forget to crank it
back up and still made many contacts. We worked from 160 to 15. It tuned
well on 10 also just not sure if we made contacts. A slingshot, ultra light
fishing pole and a pound of light nylon twine worked well. I have pictures
if anyone has an interest. Yes I have the BetterRF Tune control for this
year.
This was our third year at it and did best this year including a clean
sweep.
I have found the 272' loop will tune 160 if feed with ladder line. It
does not respond so well when feed with coax. I have used both.
If you have the trees or supports go for it.

John
