[PaQSO] MEET/GREET HAMFEST

The below was sent to me by K3QLZ, Gene;

I thought it worth sharing with the group.

It seems that, IF this MEET/GREET comes off, Bloomsburg and JVARC would be
the leading candidates (at least at this time) around which such an event
would be organized.

I have no prejudice/bias one way or the other, except to say the JVARC
event does seem to be geographically more central. The date is the same as
the NAQP CW contest, which might keep a few from attending.

BRAIN STORM: Suppose this thing does come off.........imagine 20 or 50 or
100 PaQP'ers all within one or two square miles of each other......many
with two meter handhelds......how does a 30 minute, or one hour, or
whatever, two meter contest sound? Just a thought.......I'll take a Tums
now and feel better in a minute.

Tks for your kind words !  We, JVARC, are compiling a list of Camp Grounds,
Motels with Meeting Room Facilities, Eating/Dining Facilities who serve in
Buffet Style or Sit-Down, etc., in the Lewistown/Mifflin Co. area, and will
disseminate this info ASAP. We have 25 + acres of parking/tailgating space,
we're "Country Folks" who wish only to support Amateur Radio and the HONOR
thereof, our community, and the Decatur Twp. Vol. Fire Co. We will request
"Special Arrangements" (Prices) at the previously named facilities, for the
visitors who are associated with the "Weekend Ham Radio Activities" !

Approx. driving time, to Lewistown:
From:  Pittsburgh - 3.25 hrs.  Youngstown, OH.- 4 hrs.  Binghamton, NY- 4
hrs.,  Metro. N.J.- 4 hrs.,
Baltimore - 3 hrs,  Phila., Pa. 3.25 hrs., Harrisburg, Pa.-1.25hrs.,
Berkley Springs, WV.-2.5 hrs.
Pa./U.S. Routes 22, 522, and 322 ALL intersect in Lewistown, Pa.  For
traffic coming from the West, we are 40 minutes from I-80, at the
Bellefonte, Pa. exit. (160)  For traffic coming from the East, we are 1
hour from I-80, at the Danville, Pa. exit.

We'll get-out that info within 7 to 10 days !
