[PaQSO] QRP Operation

Guess maybe I better get caught up with the times? I was of the opinion
that most people do in fact give priority to /QRP calls. I do agree that if
not needed, leave it off, but I've heard many, many pile ups where the /QRP
got the green light before others.

Your comment about "please copy my number" and "I roger your number....." is
right on Glenn. On SSB, I catch myself doing that all the blasted time and
as hard as I try to stop it, I keep doing it. For some dumb reason, I feel
that I'm being rude by being brief in my response. I think I need
counseling! Ed, WA3SES, and I just had that very discussion and we'll
probably bring it up again at our meeting tonight (this is our first
"statistics review" get together following the contest. Cold brews
required.)

The QRP ops always amazed me at how quickly they could pull a call out of
the muck, and I always attributed most of it to them being fine tuned to
weak signal operating.

Best regards.

Bob, N3FR

Signing "/QRP" is a waste of spectrum! No one is going to pay any special
attention to you because you sign "/QRP". The secret to success in the QRP
class is having the very best antenna farm you can use. I used
multi-tri-banders and lots of wires. Next, the very best receiver, ie not
some direct conversion "tin can wonder", but a real radio. Next is being
the best op you can be. Go like stink on CW and forget the "please copy my
number" and "I roger your number....." stuff. It wastes time.... I won
this class in 1995, 97 and 99 and have never run more than 5 watts. It can
be done!
