And I quote:
'A number of gripes were noted by some entrants which should be noted in
hope that they can be corrected next year:
1. The mobile "Window" should be left for the mobiles particularly on SSB.
2. Stations in rare counties should call CQ once in a while as many noted
that they couldn't work the rare station as he was only calling other CQers.
3. While the QRPers all did very well (because of their extra multiplier of
2), many complained that some of the bigger signals seemed to have their RF
gains turned down and couldn't hear the peanut whistles.
4. Where is the activity from hams in the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh
areas? Counties in both areas were some of the most difficult to work.
5. My pet peeve, was the amount of scotch tape used to weld the quarters to
the submitted results. The Nittany Club appreciates the financial support
as it would be impossible to run the Party without the help, but some of the
ingenious methods used to glue the coins to pieces of cardboard defy
extraction from the logs!'

the 1987 Contest
(Advantage to being a pack rat... I never throw stuff like this away. Lose
it, yes, but it's around here somewhere, I'll find it eventually...)
I think we've seen a little more activity from Pittsburgh & Philadelphia
these last few years, and it's been a while since a quarter or two took care
of the results, but other than that... sound familiar?
Trivia question (NARC members NOT eligible to answer!): Who hand lettered
the 121 certificates that year?
