I wanted to send a special thanks to Bill and the crew of this year's Bonus
Station. You folks obviously put on a stellar performance in providing
bonus points to many, many stations (you and I worked 7 times = 1,400
points). I can only imagine what this station looks like, but it certainly
has to be world class.
Thanks!
Bob, N3FR (portable WAR)

Club Name: Frankford Radio Club
Comments: W3FRC was the bonus point station for 2002 in recognition
of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Frankford Radio Club.
It was setup and run at K3ANS at Easton, PA, with 5 transceiver
positions for HF and 2 positions for VHF and UHF. Equipment was
provided by K3ANS, WF3H, KC3WX, K3ZV, W3ZL, N3IYX, K3MD, W0RSJ, and
WD5BRP.
K3ANS, WF3H, KC3WX, N3MX, K3ZV, W3ZL, K3MD, KB3CBO, K2NJ, N2BA, and
W3CF are
members of the Frankford Radio Club. W3CF is currently president.
W0RSJ and WD5BRP were borrowed from the Mount Airy VHF Society, better
known as the Pack Rats. They set up a temporary 70' tower and antennas
at K3ANS,
and provided the VHF and UHF gear. They were the primary VHF and UHF
operators, since most FRC members spend their time on HF. Thanks to my
wife,
Hope Goodman, for being a fine and gracious hostess.
W3FRC worked all 67 PA counties, all ARRL sections, and
missed only three Canadian sections, PEI, LB, and NWT. Thanks to
the many mobiles, rovers, and portable stations who activated rare
counties. Has any participant made QSOs with more multipliers?
A special commemorative W3FRC 75th anniversary QSL may be obtained by
sending
an SASE to K3ZV, John Lindmeier, 12479 Barbary Place, Philadelphia, PA,
19154.
DX stations may submit their requests via QSLs to the ARRL or to the
third area
QSL Bureau, in care of the PA DX Association, P. O. Box 100, York
Haven, PA
17370-0100.
K2NJ will be printing a special certificate for those who worked W3FRC
on 5
bands in the PA QSO Party. Send your request via an SASE to Bill
Inkrote, K2NJ,
911 Route 579, Flemington, NJ 08822, USA.
FRC lives for HF contesting and invites new members who also love
to contest and make scores, especially in the four annual CQ World Wide
and ARRL DX contests. Hams are eligible who live in a 225 mile radius
of the Club's center, which is near Alburtis, PA, between Allentown
and Reading. They must hold General or higher class ham licenses and
have experience in contesting with published scores. For additional
information contact Bill Goodman, K3ANS, FRC Membership Chairman or any
member. Telephone 610-258-5063 or E-Mail: [email protected]

Especially read the Constitution and By-Laws.

Meetings are held monthly in the Philadelphia area with frequent remote
meetings throughout the region. The main meetings are held the second
Tuesday
night of the month, September through May, at the King of Prussia, PA,
Fire
Company Social Hall, starting at 8 PM. Members and guests gather
around 6 PM
for dinner, contest planning, and socializing. Summer meetings are
held at
various members' homes and parks. FRC hosts the annual contesters'
hospitality
suite at the Miami Room, Crowne Plaza Hotel, Dayton, Ohio, Thursday,
Friday,
and Saturday nights of the Dayton Hamvention in May. FRC has its
annual Pizza
Blast Party in Hellertown, PA, usually the Wednesday between Christmas
and
New Year's Day. FRC also conducts several golf outings and fishing
trips each
year. Many FRC members go on DXpeditions to provide high scores during
the CQ
and ARRL world wide DX contests. Periodically FRC conducts Contesting
Conferences to present new ideas and discuss contesting proficiency,
especially for
newer contesters. FRC owns the W3FRC repeater on 147.27 MHz, near
Philadelphia.
No PL is required. Call in to discuss contesting. Members also have a
private
FRC reflector to exchange contesting information and plans. FRC
supports the DX Packet
Cluster backbone and many nodes in New Jersey, Delaware, and Eastern
Pennsylvania.
We have observed all PA QSO Party competition rules as well as all
regulations for
amateur radio in our country and regulations set by my wife. Our
report is correct and true
to the best of our knowledge. We agree to be bound by the decisions of
the
contest committee of the Nittany Amateur Radio Club. We admire NARC
for all
their hard work. Enclosed is $2.00 processing fee requested by NARC.
