Wow, the reflector is really hopping, so I'll toss in a thought or two.
Number 1 is a hardy thanks to whomever for putting the results together
and certificates , plaques, and on & on. I would volunteer to help if not
for work and living in the easternmost corner of Pike Co.(matamoras).
This year I'll do my usual qrp thing with r7 vert and long wire, and
assorted
rigs (1w to 5watts) some I built, some I didnt, but <5.0 is qrp, not the rig.
A couple or three yrs ago, I stayed out of the party because of whining abt
qrp'ers and the tremedous point advantage they get, even though they might
be using a commercial rig instead of a hw-8. My main rig is the ft-920 so I
can enjoy ssb and cw(not to mention the best receiver I ever had).
I managed to snag another county certificate for 2001, yippee, but
still have not managed the elusive clean sweep...closest was missing 2
counties
one year.
I absolutely love this contest and will strive to better my score every
year.
I also donate points to the EPA-QRP club and its not doing too badly
in the club results.
In closing let me relate my favorite PaQSO experience...Had to work
on a saturday(forget which year) and finally got on late in the day on
Sunday,
well hello dxpedition-I was the only one on Pike co, Whoo what a rush,
and I logged with paper at the time. Sure was fun.
Oh forgot to mention the best part; meeting the many friends and calls
I recognize for a quick hello es gl.
Ok, thats all from Pike for now ,, 3's (72 for the
qrper's)
