I would like to second Blair's suggestion. I use an
80 mtr full wave loop up abt 20'-30' fed with ladder
line. I have no trouble maintaining a frequency on
40 or 80 running 100 watts during the PA QSO party.
I use this antenna on all bands 80-6. I also have
a vertical for 160-30, but mainly for DX.
In the VAQSO party I had no trouble on the higher
bands using it. I have wrked some stations on 15
& 10 in the PAQSO parties with it, but the propagation
usually is too long. I guess I will never be able to
beat W8FJ an out-of-state plaque, since he is far
enough away to do better on the higher bands.
Now, if there were only more stations on 6 mtrs during
the party. How abt a 6 mtr activity hour, like there
are for 15 & 10? Any suggestions for the time?
