Nice to read some of the early plans. Good to hear names like CLA, CLI,
FOR, ARM, POT etc mentioned. Never too much activity in those.
Hope to hear JUN, PER FUL FRA ELK BRA etc also mentioned.
For those interested, the State Park cabins and campsites are now awarded
by telephone call vs "mail in" lottery forms. You can call them (888
727-2757, as in 888 PA PARKS) starting 11 months before your desired visit.
(I made my October 10-13, 2002 reservation at Prince Gallitzin State Park
on November 10th, 2001). And even though I was that early, I got the next
to last of the 10 cabins in the park.
While I have not been to all state parks, (far from it, I've only rented
cabins in two of them), it is my experience that the cabins go very early
for the PaQP weekend. It is usually the "height of color" weekend for the
leaves, and more than once it was homecoming weekend for Penn State,
resulting in many people using the cabins in the parks in the central part
of the state for that event. And also, Columbus Day makes it a long
weekend.
So, if you want a cabin in a state park it really helps to plan in advnace.
Though, as TDF says, you might always get lucky catching someone elses last
minute cancellation. PA's DCNR has a web page to check things out:

Once again I will be more than happy to give a CMB QSO to all. And here's
hoping there are no power failures this year.
