Hello and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.
There is a thread going on CQ-CONTEST re: key clicks on the Yaesu MV.
That is the rig I use.
Apparently there are stations out there, using this rig, with 5kc (excuse
me....khz) wide clicks...maybe 10kc wide...I'm not sure if they are talking
5kc either side or 5kc total.
Anyhow, I'm curious if my signal is like that.
Since I call CQ more in the PaQP than any other contest, that is where it
would most likely be noticed.
Can anyone of you comment if I "click" on CW more than, say, 1000 cycles
outside your passband?? 500 cycles?? 5000 cycles.
I generally run with 500hz filters (2nd and 3rd if) and do not recall ever
having a problem with other stations "clicking" from outside my pas band in
PaQP. Some times I go down to the 250hz filters and notice it a little with
other stations, but not enough for it to stick in my head as an issue. But
that's in the PaQP.
SS CW is another story. I'm using 250hz filters 95% of the time in that
contest, and I'd say I encounter 5 or 6 stations with clicks "way" outside
the pass band.
If I'm a culprit in PaQP I want to know.
Frank, honest opinions wanted, as there is apparently a fix if I have this
problem.
Thanks
