A member of the mobile teams in WASH (N3ZNI, who plans to partner with
KB3GOT) was talking about possible routes to take in this year's contest.
They both live in Washington County (neighborhood of Eighty Four, PA) near
I-79, so I suggested the following:
Start in Greene County, proceed North on I-79 to I-80, proceed East until
the Poconos, then take the Turnpike Extension South towards Philly. Then
proceed on either the Turnpike or US 30 / I-70 West coming back.
Figure in a few small detours to pick up a few counties (such as going all
the way to Philadelphia, or leaving I-70 to pick up Fulton Co near
Breezewood, or heading south from I-70 on PA 51 to pick up Fayette), and
they should hit a good many counties. Also, they could take I-79 into Erie,
then either head back down or take I-90 East for a short time and then take
another route (which one?) down to I-80.
But it got me wondering: Anyone actually try this route, more or less, and
know how good it is?

When asked "If you had been in President Clinton's place, would you have
resigned?",
Republican Member of the House of Representatives Dick Armey replied:
"If I were in the President's place, I would not have gotten a chance to
resign. I would be laying in a pool of my own blood, hearing Mrs. Armey
standing over me saying, "How do I reload this damn thing?"

Hello,All!
It's getting closer!
Trying to plot out my route for this year, but since I'm recovering from
some recent orthopedic surgery, it may be an abbreviated run this
year...unless I can help it!
Any counties looking rare this year? Maybe I'll try the northern tier for a
change....Bradford/Sullivan, anyone?
At least I've been able to go over the radios, since I've been laid up, The
recievers are tuned to the 'nth' degree, and the audio on the 706 has been
tweaked to almost match my traditional '747. As per usual, I'll be DC to
Daylight, SSB on 160-6; FM on 2/220/440/1296, and just maybe some CW this
year. (75% of my operating from home is on CW, but I've always had a hard
time with it in the car!)
Chomping at the bit....
Oscillator!
