Chris:
As an amateur radio operator I read with interest your article on using
electric lines to funnel Internet access to homes in Catawissa. The technology
is known as BPL.

This report screams for a followup. It has been proven that BPL causes
harmful interference to communications between 2 and 80 MHz. That interference is
so bad that it could wipe out amateur radio communications but more
importantly public safety communications. For example, Columbia County dispatches it's
fire calls on 46.120 MHz, right in the middle of the "interference band"
I am sending you two web sites. The first explains BPL and the amateur radio
communities concerns, the second is a link to a report how vital ham radio
was after the Tsunami in Asia. I would also like to point out that after 9/11
amateur radio was the ONLY form of communications in and out of the WTC
area!
