Good Morning....
Thanks for your e-mail.
The 746 final PA band pass filters were never designed to support
operation outside of the amateur radio bands.=A0 They will "stretch" to
accept normal operation in the MARS and CAP frequencies just above and
just below the amateur radio spectrum, but they will not support
operation down in the 5 MHz area.=A0 They will heat up and you will damage
the radio.=A0 About the only two radios will have reasonable operation on
the 5 MHz area are the 706MkIIG and the 718.=A0=20

Subject: IC-746 & IC-746 PRO
Hello Techs
Myself and about a dozen plus Amateur, Mars=A0 and Shares own IC-746 and
Pro version.
Recently one of our members lost final outputs in 2 radios and claim
they were told by Icom the 746 would not support the 5mhz.=20
This is of get concern for all with all of us .=20
We would like to know if this information is true .=20
If so is there a correction available.=20
Mars uses several frequencies in the 5.4 mhz , Shares is 5.2mhz=A0 and
Ham 60meters is 5.3 to 5.4 mhz.=20
I really like my 746 so far hopefully you can shed some good news.
