Since many years I have uesed what you ask for. First I had a Kenwood
TS440S-AT, and a homemade TTL>RS232 level converter.
Later I got a Kenwood TS-570D, and I purchased a TTL>RS232 from the SCS
company.

Both levelconverters has worked ok, and has understand the software I used.

I have ran a HF-BBS sinc emany years. It was a XFBB bbs, and the
radioscanning was controlled from the xfbb-linux software.
