[Pactor] Noise Question

My HF rig is an Icom 728, and connecting a KAM (or anything else into the
back) distorts my mic input as well. Apparently the audio from the mic is
not isolated from the data audio input. That is, the data input loads down
the mic input.
One way to solve it is to put a switch in line with the data audio, and open
it when you're using the mic.

Subject: [Pactor] Noise Question
I've noticed distortion and noise in my SSB signal when a KAM is
connected...
This with several KAMs and different Icom models. The KAM is connected via
the rear panel of the radio.
Is there a way a KAM (or other multimode TNC) can stay connected so
volunteer radio operators don't have to fool around with science projects
and wire messes?
Thanks
