[Packet] Handi Packet

I have threatened to buy the Baycomm however, I have hesitated to date
because, while I understand it "can" work with other packet applications
like dosaprs and winpack, any possible aggravation factor holds me back.
The question for myself is, do I use that $50.00 towards a stand alone TNC
that can be pressed into service just in case my node or aprs digi needs a
back up? I'm sure it's worthy of consideration by Steve.--73 Doug, N0LKK

: The best for that is, (IMHO) The Baycom BP-1 I've been using one for
years, , , ,
: ,
: see it at http://tigertronics.com/
: It's about 50 bucks and well worth it. Small enough to put in your shirt
pocket,
: , , , ,
: multiple ports, multiple windows, mailbox, etc etc
: Perfect for "on the road" travel, just an HT, a laptop and the BP-1, and
away you
: go.
: It can do everything a TNC can do and then some.
: It is a "modem" rather than a hardware TNC, and is entirely software
based.
: works in windows too, sorry Apple devotees, nothing for you.
