TO ALL OREGON ARMY MARS MEMBERS AND STATIONS
    INFO: WAMC,
                  AAA9MA

Subject: Update on personal task training.
I am in receipt of two requests to forward information to WAMC and
the Mars Administrator
each friday (as all other SMDs' do too) the progress and change of
Oregon Mars membership in
accomplishing prescribed tasks. (completing FEMA courses and other
emergency training classes)
    THESE ARE THE FACTS:
        1. The TSA ( Transportation Security Administration) mission is
growing and the agency is
investing equipment in support of teams that will support
airports and other identified locations.
We need to take full advantage of this opportunity to enhance
Mars usage and roll in emerg-
ency disaster support. This is best done at this time and to
get educated before secure
operations begin. (take courses, discuss, support responders,
be part of the team)
        2. I will update all files weekly and I really want success in
rallying personel to be part of the
teams training and table top discussions. The training
guidelines by AAM0TOR certainly
complement the task and support the requirement of being a
trained operator with mode
technique and confirmations by voice. "participation"
    SOLUTIONS:
        1. Members need to document with me any prescribed FEMA courses
(also other emergency
courses / classes ) by providing me with a certificate of
completion along with the course
number. This will be documented in your file and also the
database at Ft. Huchuca. I will
            copy and forward the information.
        2. FEMA courses are free and the course numbers recommended at
this time are IS 700, 100,
200, 800. In the Homeland Security Presidential Directive 5
"Management of Domestic
Incidents" required the adoption of NIMS (National Incident
management System) by all
            Federal Departments and Agencies. http://www.nimsonline.com
for record. These courses
are not that difficult - you can do it all on line or print out
the material for study and recall.
Examining the web page http://www.fema.gov/nims will have
information on local NIMS
compliance. It appears that it is recommended to take IS-700
(an introduction) and then the
IS-100, 200, 300, 800. To take this course on line go to ....
              http://training.fema.gov/EMIWeb/IS/is700.asp (more than
550,000 persons completed the
            course in 2005)
         GOOD LUCK,
Please drop me a msg or send e-mail on your progress or
feelings about doing this nation wide
assignment.. I will do this assignment too and keep comments
going on the oremem message
board, and we / I DO need names of individuals who want to work
toward their recognition
of a TSA compliance operator. Qualified and maybe a responder.
