To all Oregon/Idaho Army Mars members:
We are planning a test to see how many members can be heard on our vhf
simplex frequency. The frequency is MGB. The test is planned for this
Thursday night November 13, for our regularly scheduled vhf net in Klamath
Falls.
Time is for 0401Z or 2001PST.
If you have a 2 meter beam aim it towards SW Oregon.
Please try and check in if you have those capabilities. Send me an e-mail
and let me know if you tried to check in and could not be heard. If you
could copy the net, let me know.
Also, please monitor the freq. and let me know if you can hear anyone.
We are in the process of determining alternate vhf freq. to use during
emergencies.
During these days of disruptive solar flairs, we are finding that vhf is
working better for statewide communications than hf.Be sure you maintain the
list of Oregon Army/Navy mars repeater frequencies that you're able to use
and access.
FYI: You do not have to be an ARES member to check into an ARES
vhf net. Oletta is putting together an emergency communications sheet which
will list the ARES net frequencies. If you check in from time to time you
will establish an alternate route for emergency messages if you can not get
through on a local Mars Net.
