With this test email, all current members of Oregon and Idaho Army
MARS should be on this email reflector (List). This should enable us
to become more cohesive. ALL Members have 'write' privileges to this
list, with the following proviso:
    - Alert Notifications can be sent by any member witnessing directly
any Emergency that will/may/might require MARS communications support
that has not been notified of by SMD/ASMD/EASMD of Idaho or Oregon
    - State Level Officers may send messages regarding Training, Exercises
or
other MARS pertinent communications.
    - Messages specific to one state should place in the subject line of the
EMAIL "State Name" followed by Subject of message. EG: "OR" Training
exercise or "ID" Alert Notification MIGHTY WIND/BOISE ID.
    - The new e-version of the State MARS Director's Newsletter will be sent
via this reflector (for now) as a text-only once a month effort by AAR0NH
OR.
Eventually, we hope to get the "Official" HQ MARS Reflector working right
again and be able to include graphics and pics. Stations are encouraged in
both states
to send articles and/or station/member pics and such to the Oregon PR
Officer
Leo Griffin, AAR0NH OR at email paupo(at)casco.net NLT 20th of following
month for inclusion. Articles should be of MARS operational aspects and/or
topics
of general interest as regards technical aspects or Operator Biographies. At
some
point we may include a section for anecdotal types of stories (I remember
when...)
but for now as noted.
    - SMD and ASMD/TASMD/EASMD Broadcasts from both states will be sent
via this list as well, and should have an email subject line of:
[OREMEM/IDAMEM] OR/ID SMD BCST ##-## RE: OPERATION BLUE DOG
or similar nature. # symbol would be replaced by actual message number info
that is
not related to the NR within the message header itself. This allows for
sequential
storage and retrieval of all State Officer Broadcasts in date/time order
easily.
    - Do NOT "Reply to all" when replying to items sent through this medium.
The list is set up to pass the 'reply to' of the originating station to you
as the
one you should reply to. This way, we keep the load low on the servers.
    - Finally, this email reflector is provided free of charge by Al Waller,
K3KTJ
(Owner/Operator of QTH.NET/QSL.NET) he asks nothing in return for this
privelege. He devotes several thousand out of pocket dollars to keeping the
system free of viruses,
problems and has multiple t1, t2 and t3 lines for these servers. Those who
know the QTH/QSL web presence know it is a valuable asset to the Amateur and
MARS world.
On the first of each month, you will receive an automatic message reminding
you of the
current user email and setting for your e-address on this reflector. From
time to time, Al will send a system status report to ALL Users of QTH/QSL
system. In their he will note if
he has any needs of additional funding for the system. While not required,
or demanded of
list members, those who can see their way clear to send a donation of $10
per year +/- to
Al Waller to keep the system debt-free and running may do so.
