A recurring failure of the MMPC processor in the KW TS-430-S
I have used for nearly 6 years as Primary HF Rig has caused the
Transmitter
Oscillator to cease functioning while in 7 MHz Mode. This was discovered
while attempting to fire up this AM's SMD Admin net on KFC. The P
meter showed full output (150 Watts) but obviously no one could hear me.
I then switched over to NMCM 7X3B net on 7381.0 USB Dial, to see if
a NMCM could come over and act as relay. No Response, even from
local/high copy stations. Picked up an External Frequency Counter from
a friend, and find that on 7 MHZ Receive, all is correct. Transmitting on
7 MHZ cause the Frequency Output to shift up one MHz + .0001 (Example:
7.xxx.x would become 8.xxx.y instead. (Output Watts <10 Watts w/SWR).
Repair estimate is low, having to do with trace/circuit repair
related to
power surge damage of last month previously repaired. However, will be at
Least next Thursday AM before the radio will again become operational.
In the meantime, all stations should continue to run and check-in to nets
on
the current Schedule for Oregon.
As I did the AAA0ID/A Admin net on 4 MHz this Morning and
received
FB Signal/Propagation reports from stations in UT, AZ, MT, ID, WA and CN
I believe that circuit is working correctly.
Will attempt to utilize Alternate HF Rig for tomorrow's nets...
Keep an ear peeled..
