[OMIK] REAL WORLD WINLINK EMERGENCY COMMUNICATION

This is a REAL WORLD EVENT not an exercise.


 A powerful winter storm is coming in and sweeping across the country.  In
order to track its impact we ask that EVERY OMIK MEMBER please submit a
Winlink FIELD SITUATION REPORT based upon how you are impacted by the storm
when it reaches your area within the next few days.

INSTRUCTIONS for the FIELD SITUATION REPORT:

➢ Open Winlink (click OK for any updates)
➢ Click on “Message → New Message” to create a new message
➢ Click on “Select Template”
◦ Standard templates
◦ Mapping GIS Forms
◦ Field Situation Report
➢ When the form opens in your browser, complete each section
◦ PRECEDENCE: “O”
◦ DATE/TIME
◦ TASK # (Give it a number)
◦ FROM: (Your Call Sign)
◦ TO: K6COB. KO4L
◦ INFO (cc) Your personal email (if you want a copy)
1. EMERGENCY? (You decide)
2. Fill in your City, County & State
3. LAT/LON ( Don’t forget the (-) before Longitude; MGRS & Grid will self
populate when you
hit the tab key.
4. #s 4-11 (POTS=Plain old telephone system) Continue answering questions
as you
are reporting on a the situation in your area (Select Yes, No or Unknown
for each one)
5. #12 In the Comment Field, Type “THIS IS A REAL WORD EVENT” and explain
your current situation
6. #13 POC: Your Name
7. Click “Submit” ->OK
When the form disappears, close your browser to get back to Winlink. You
will see your message
populated with the information you provided on the form.
➢ Click “Post to Outbox”
➢ Click "Open Session" -> Start

Once your message is sent the system will check to see if you have any
incoming messages. If so, click "Download," and it will appear in your inbox
