Hello, All!
My wife and I are looking for an SUV. The old Honda Accord is getting long
in the tooth (as am I!).
I want something to haul my ratty old '50's vintage 8 inch f/8 Newtonian
telescope around to astronomy club star parties.
(Or I might break down and get a big Dobsonian!)
We (so far) are looking at three options for 2018 models:
Honda CR-V
Toyota RAV4
Mazda CX-5
My brother has the CX-5 and absolutely loves it. Consumer's Reports rates
it a bit lower than the first two.
Well, does anyone out there in Ham Radio Land have any experience
installing and operating an HF rig and HF antenna in any of these. If you
have done so with a recent model year, please let me know how things worked
out for you.
How was it to install a rig?
What rig did you choose?
What antenna?
Mounting antenna issues?
NOISE SUPPRESSION / amount of noise and what (if anything) you were able to
do about it.
We travel a lot during the summer and I'm looking at (possibly) the
Icom IC-7100,
since the price has dropped on it a lot. (Any comments on that transceiver?)
Do you have an HF or DC-to-Daylight rig that you recommend?
