Dear Mr. Colston:
I have been working with the TRO to put together a small group of
volunteers for the Webelo Woods at Camp Garland October 24 through the
26th.
I am preparing a program for the kids where they will have activities and
Ham
Radio's with control operators for 3rd party traffic.
Our empahsis of the program will be the Boy Scout Radio, Electronics, &

emergency preparedness Merit badges. I will be playing the video program

Amateur Radio Today narrated by Walter Cronkite, some tornado storm chase

footage, and Question and Answer time. I will have a small am shortwave
radio kit for the kids to put together on the table.
We have alocated a small pavillion near the dining hall, and we will
need a
generator to provide electricity. Paul Papke, wb5mpu has offered his
assistance with some equipment and may be able to come out for the
presentation on Saturday. I still need one more Extra class or General
Class
operator to assist with the HF as control operator.
I have Mike Rieser, KD5LPE, from Troop 222 who will represent scouting
&
ham radio. Mike is a visually impared General Class handi ham and has his
own
rig set up for voice readout. I am providing my own HF station which is
MARS
capable and will be checking into the NAVY-MARINE MARS net Friday,
Saturday,
and Sunday morning. My Navy Mars call is NNN0LPL-T. I am sending the
information to our MARS members to call the station on 40 meters general
frequency of 7.225 to 7.300 phone after the mars nets conclude.
There is contact information at www.tulsahamradio.org for volunteers to

help at the station or to call me at my home phone & e-mail address.
Please
contact me if you can offer assistance and pass the word along regarding
our
special event station. We would like to give the kids a great time and
get
them on the air and perhaps influence their parents as well. 73's
Sincerely,
Mark Roberts
