[OKDXA] Where's the DX?

Just a quick thought here. Seems most every report I read is a contact in a
digital mode.
What if I am hooked on “traditional HF”, as in point to point with a good
antenna system and a decent radio with a decent amount of power. I rather
enjoy the challenge of working like stations across the world. Am I just a
Luddite refusing to change for the sake of change or what?

Should I just ditch the old high power rigs and move to digital? Humm, what
if in a time of need for whatever reason (EME’s, satellite issues etc.) the
internet malfunctions and we are left to the “traditional “ ways of
communicating via amateur radio, will some of us be able to fire up the
“old” equipment and be there for our fellow man.

I am not saying, “ let’s bring back spark gap”, merely let’s use and avail
ourselves of all this hobby has to offer. I only have 197 countries all on
HF, but I have a goal to get as many as I can, maybe with luck and a little
help from ol Sol.
Turn off the digital and fire up the HF rigs and dig out your contacts,
could be a challange, could be fun…

Just my thoughts,
