There's no question - paper QSLs are an anachronism.  For the good of
the hobby, LOTW needs to be wrestled away from ARRL, but that's a side
issue.

I'd be annoyed if a DXPedition said "we will never confirm your QSOs
unless you pay" but not if they say, we'll upload these in a year or
two (or whatever) and if you want them faster, here's the PayPal link.

As noted, if some op says "pay, pal else take a hike", that's fine ...
I can use the walk.  He'll quickly get  reputation and he won't make
nearly as many QSOs as he once did.

Of course, I have Norfolk Island confirmed on 2 bands and 2 modes.

LOTW is not the issue here, a bad operator is.
