Tim.....you're a lifesaver.....   My second set of  PLP Big Grip dead
ends arrived from DXE 20 minutes ago,  I was within several hours of
wrapping (and ruining) the cable

I had my doubts about using the same clamps used for steel.   I have
pulled lots of fiber optic cables over the years, we always used a
pulling sock or tubular device that applies force evenly across the
diameter; the teeth
on my existing clamps looked like a bad idea with the poly jacket .
My other mistake was watching a YouTube video of someone using steel
clamps to pre-tension Phillystrand.

Will review all the sources and videos you provided before proceeding.
