[OKDXA] ELECRAFT KPA1500

I am probably not as experienced as most of our DXers. In 10 years, I only have 195 countries using 100W on an antenna at 32 feet or so while only operating occassionally. My current FT-950 works best on FT-8 (and other digital modes) when I keep the power down. Maybe after I hook up Dad's (SK) Quadra, I will have the option to "increase my power to what it takes." 😊
Good luck and cya in the logs.

98 PERCENT OF TIME I RUN 35 TO 40W OR LESS, BUT IF A RARE DX STATION IS ON I WILL INCREASE MY POWER TO WHAT IT TAKES . AND FT8 IS NOT A LOW POWER MODE, IT IS A LOW SIGNAL MODE. STATIONS YOU WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO HEAR ON SSB, OR CW YOU CAN MAYBE HEAR ON FT8 OR FT4 MODE.
GOOD LUCK WITH WORKING THE DX, I SO FAR HAVEN''T BEEN ABLE TO HEAR THE 3D2RRR ON ANY MODE.

I try to limit operations to 40 to 50W max. As Tim said, FT8 is for low power.
If you are operating high power, near-by hams may be blocked.

Because the DX can't always hear me with 100 watts!
