OKDXA name/call badges are made by Rick Pourciau, a.k.a.The Signman,
NV5A, out of Baton Rouge, LA. In the past, OKDXA ordered blanks that had
the OKDXA logo pre-printed on them. This was a considerable expense to
the club as we had to order what were estimated to be several year's
worth of them. He is out of blanks and, this time around, we'd also have
to pay for a new artwork setup if we wanted to use the same system. This
makes the expense to the club considerable.

Recently, Rick has developed the ability to create all of this in-house,
obviating the need for stocking pre-made blanks. The badges he can make
in-house are about 1/4" smaller in each dimension, and so nearly the
same size but *not identically* the same size. He will do all the
artwork setup for us for free, so we save the cost of buying the blanks
*and* buying the artwork setup. Our past badges have a medium gray
background with black printing showing the club name and logo, with your
name and call in white engraved into the badge. I learned that the
medium gray background is in reality a mistake: many years ago, OKDXA
requested a light gray background, but the blanks came in as a medium
gray. The leadership decided that is was just as good and so that's what
we have today. His new system can make our badges in the original color,
but also a few different colors. So, I've told him that he should offer
the original along with his available color combinations on his web
site. He'll send me samples next week for approval. OKDXA is more
identified by it's logo than by a badge color, so as long as the logo
stands out, we'll all still be identifiable as OKDXA members.

New badges will soon be available at (I think) the original cost of
$13.50 each.
