Here is more information about the Spanish Islands off the coast of African. I assume they would use the EA9 prefix as well. I was wrong about them being uninhabited, some do have a population on them. don't know if there are any hams there, or if any IOTA expeditions have occurred from them. I guess they would count the same as Ceuta and Mellila for DXCC purposes.

No John, I did not work the EA9. Decoded him several times, but he didn't want to work me very bad... Gene worked him though... The callsign was EA9ABC... Did work D4K on Cape Verde for a new one on 6...

Spain does have a couple of islands in the Mediterranean sea just off the coast of Africa by those EA9 cities, but I believe they are all uninhibited. Might count as separate IOTAs
Did you get the EA9 on 6?

Ham Radio - The Great Geography teacher
I was chasing an EA9 today on 6 meters. I always assumed Ceuta &
Melilla were islands, probably in the Mediterranean Sea, somewhere near
Spain. I was curious, so I looked them up. Would you believe they are
both autonomous cities on the coast of Morocco in North Africa? Melilla
has been under Spanish rule since 1497. Ceuta was a Portuguese territory
from 1415 and given to Spain under the Treaty of Lisbon in 1668. So,
both have been a part of Spain for hundreds of years. Isn't it amazing
the things you learn because of Ham Radio?
