My survey response was that the 5x power bonus limit should be raised
to 20 W to accommodate the 10- and 20-W battery HF radios that are now
widely available since the point is, you know, field operation.
I don't see how reducing the "regular" tier to 100 W max really
changes anything given that with the exception of a 200-W version of
the Kenmore TS-480, I can't think of a radio suitable for FD made in
the last 25 years that exceeds 100 watts. I'm fine with limiting ALL
transmitters to 100 W, though. Running at a "full gallon" is hardly a
"field" thing.
The D to D thing does nothing to promote field operation nor does the
aggregate club score. Typical ARRL - 1 step forward, 2 steps back.
