I've never played in the NAQP, but probably should. I was introduced to
contesting in FD, which is a contest that isn't. I've had only a few
good opportunities to participate in them, however, and now none. I've
always enjoyed SS and tried that with two radios once (a TS-390s and
TS-430S) but I don't have enough antennas or transmission lines to do
such a thing well. It was and interesting experience, as I lashed
together a switch box and to select which transmitter I'd be keying. It
was primitive and rife with opportunities to screw up. I doubt I did
any better than I would have single transmitter, but I could say I tried
it.
This brings me to a question. My TT Orion 2 has 2 separate receivers
with which I can almost emulate two radios. I have to choose which VFO
is used for transmitting, but I can listen to both simultaneously,
though not while transmitting, and tune them separately. This is
*almost* like two radios that share the same transmission line. How is
the strategy of using two VFOs different from two radios in this case?
Is there an entry category for such?
