[OKDXA] FW: 3D2CR - Conway

GM Coy...
Yesterday, I too had trouble with him ( I think it's only Dom operating) on 17 meters. He was quite loud most of the day. Early on, I called, he replied, but I never got Rogers. So, I kept calling and he never called again, off and on all day... One idea I had was maybe he was using one of those other software programs, not wsjt, which would allow multi-streams but not the traditional F/H like wsjt does it... Just a thought... Anyway, he definitely has too many streams enabled, sometimes 5 or more, which cuts down his signal strength tremendously. I too have seen many incomplete QSOs. Many times I get one decode but can see 3 or 4 other streams he is transmitting. Those other streams are strong on the waterfall, but something is wrong with them, they are distorted or something or maybe it's a bandwidth issue like you say...
Just now I worked him on 30 meters. I actually got my RR73. He wasn't really very loud, especially when multi-streaming, but it didn't take but a couple calls and I worked him. I was surprised...
From comments I have read, it seems he is mostly concerned with Quantity of QSOs, thus the emphasis on FT8 F/H, rather than other modes...

73,
Jeff - K5WE

I think I figured it out. I noticed that their 2nd, 3rd, etc signals are
down from the first. One transmission the 1st signal was +7 and the 2nd
was -18. That tells me they have limited bandwidth on transmit. That
would explain a lot. Each time I called them they responded immediately
but I never got the RR73 because it was out in the 2nd, 3rd, etc. signal
which was too weak for me to copy. From their end it was a good contact
but I didn't copy the RR73 because it was too weak. I never logged them
but they logged me so that is why they never called me again no matter how
long I called them. Somehow we need to get the word to them about what is
going on.
