Subject: Re: [OKDXA] My Pitiful CQWW effort
It took me years to realize that, like France, there's nothing like the
CQ Worldwide contest.
I was invited at the last second to join the KØRF Multi-Multi via remote
(I guess that means they were desperate?). I have never done that.
Ever. Chuck (K0RF) over-nighted me a box full of stuff with the
instructions to take it out of the box intact, plug it in and hook it up
to the internet. Are you /kidding /me?
It was nothing short of a game changer.
I'll be celebrating being licensed 50 years on December 21, and I am the
caricature of Old School. This remote rig stuff is standing me on my ear.
It was a blast. Me an' Kurt K7NV (my elbow-partner in Nevada) were the
two-man team for 40 meters. We worked 1300 QSOs in 121 countries on 40
meters. 37 Zones. From a station in Colorado.
Draggin' today but still up before the crack of dawn because that's just
what old farts do.
