see the text written to my screen maybe a half or full second before, like
you say, then my rig goes into xmit. No big deal, I guess, just different...

Hi Jeff,

I noticed the delay a few weeks before using 2.4.  I recall reading
somewhere that a detectable pause may be noticed because the decoding cycle
has been rewritten and runs faster, probably giving a pause of a half or
full second  more before the transmit cycle.  Just a possibility ...
