Conditions to South Orkney seem erratic. Going into this VP8PJ operation
I needed South Orkney on 80, 12, and 10. I have found out from
experience that it is just about "impossible" for me to work the islands
in the extreme south Atlantic on 80 meters unless I plan on staying up
late. When I say "impossible" I mean it is very difficult with my
marginal 80m antenna which is a sloper hanging off the side of my tower.

Years ago, I worked Peter I on 80m at 3AM Central Time. Last night I
finally worked VP8PJ at about 10 PM Central time. Later at night condx
are better and also EU competition is less.

According to the propagation prediction on the VP8PJ website propagation
is NIL on 10 meters and only barely reaches S3 a few hours a day on 12
meters. So I don't think I'll be able to fill up the 10m and 12 m band
slots.
