Press Release-Winners of the 1st Annual Intrepid DX Group Youth "Dream Rig"
Essay Contest.
It brings us great pleasure to announce the winners of the 1st Annual Youth
"Dream Rig" Essay Contest.
We received over sixty essays from US licensed young amateurs from all over
the world. The essays were unique in thought and very well-articulated.
Extra points were given for proper grammar, punctuation and spelling. Most
of the essays gave unique perspectives on how to reach out and connect with
the youth of today. We will be sharing those ideas in subsequent postings.
First Place winner, and recipient of the ICOM IC-7300 is Faith Hannah
Lea-KD3Z. In addition to winning the IC-7300, Faith Hannah will also receive
a vertical "flagpole" antenna from Greyline Performance Antennas. She will
also receive a Deluxe Headset from Heil Sound and a Powerwerx switching
power supply from Steve-N6SJ. Lastly, she will receive a QRP Morse Nano
Morse Key-25-811P from Gigaparts.
Second Place winner, and recipient of the Yaesu FT-65 radio, donated by Paul
N6PSE is Charlie Meadows-N4VTI. Charlie will also receive a $50 DX
Engineering Gift Card from David-WD5COV.
Third Place winner, and recipient of the Baofeng BF-F8HP radio, donated by
Paul N6PSE is Patrick Gawthrop-W9GGG. Patrick will also receive a $50 DX
Engineering Gift Card from David-WD5COV.
Having read over sixty essays this week, We can tell you that our youth are
full of great ideas and they are brimming with enthusiasm to keep our hobby
alive well into the future.
