First off here are the minutes form last October's meeting. Professional
responsibilities kept our secretary/treasurer, Bruce Burnette away, so I
took the minutes. Here they are:

OKDXA Fall 2018 Meeting Minutes

The OKDXA Fall Meeting and Banquet started promptly at 6 PM Saturday,
October 20^th at the Cattle Country Resort in Stroud, OK. Twelve members
were in attendance, somewhat lighter than the last Fall meeting. The
ticket price was adjusted to $25 per person. The food was, as always,
very good.

A short business meeting was held: the club moved to send $100 in
support the Ducie Is. DXpedition, if it has not already done so.

A motion was made from the floor and seconded to provide Gene Lewis,
W5LE, Life Member status in recognition of his extensive, long-term
service to the club, his leadership of the W5 QSL Bureau, and his
tireless help in the transition to the new web site. The motion passed
by unanimous voice vote.

A motion was made, seconded, and approved for a modified schedule for
officer’s terms: instead of all officers’ terms expiring at once, they
will expire in a staggered fashion. This preserves some corporate memory
among the officers so that those with experience are always on hand. The
next office to be up for replacement [at the Green Country HamFest] will
be the Secretary/Treasurer (ST) position, currently held by Bruce
Burnette, K5PX (this is his second time around and he deserves some
relief). The following year, the Vice President’s (VP) office will be up
for election and the ST’s office will be one year into a two year term,.
The President and Secretary/Treasurer will be opened in the next year,
since the Secretary/ Treasurer will have completed two years. The VP’s
office is open the next year, etc.

OKDXA shirts are now available from Hamthreads.com; a link has been
included in the new OKDXA web site.

A short presentation was made by Randy Wing, N0LD, and Harvey Jones,
W0HGJ, on the new OKDXA web page. The OKDXA is being hosted for free on
the Edmond Amateur Radio Society’s web site, but our web address remains
www.okdxa.net.

Following this, Roger Simpson, K5RKS, provided insights into the
internal workings of FT8. His presentation sparked a lot of interest and
many questions with good discussions all the way around. A short
presentation by Randy about VHF rover contesting followed, and, again,
sparked a lot of interest and good questions.

One renewal was collected during the meeting.

The raffle followed, and included prizes ranging from IRCs, to a
multi-mode 6 m rig.Well threw the Big Switch and the meeting adjourned
around 9 PM.

The price for the room and food as a package was $247.99. Receipts by
the club, including a membership renewal, were $387.00; the hotel
provided raffle tickets for our use at no cost.

..._._

As many are no doubt aware, the OKDXA website is having teething
troubles. Unfortunately for the club (fortunately for the officers!),
all of us are still working stiffs with families, so there are plenty of
things to distract us from both radio and club duties. Randy has been
working 12-13 h shifts at Tinker AFB and so has been unable to free up
much time to set things straight with the web site. Thus, I can't tell
you what the problem are problems are, only that Randy N0LD (and Harvey
W0HGJ) will get on it as soon as possible. In the mean time, please send
your dues the Olde Fashioned way: a check via USPS to Bruce Burnette.
Please include you call on the check. Bruce's address is good in the
Callbook!

73,

Kim N5OP
