Although I have Ducie Is. on 10 m, I couldn't resist giving it a tray
when I had the chance. This was at about 0030 UTC (1730 CDT) after
getting home from work. I turned on the rig and pointed the antenna at
about 210 and could hear them. As is often the case, I couldn't hear the
pile-up, so I looked at the last spot noting where they were listening:
it was always around 3 kHz up. So, I set my tx for 28026 and dropped in
my call once (not repeated). and the immediately responded with my call.
They were weak so I was surprised at my luck. I don't think the 10 m
pileup was very large.
If I can make it on 160 and 12 m, I'll have swept all the HF bands for
VP6 between this operation and the one in 2008.
They're very workable, so go for it!
