One last reminder: the OKDXA Banquet is THIS Saturday, starting at 6 PM
at the at the Cattle Country Lodge, 1200 N 8th Ave, Stroud, OK,
74079-4751 (918-968-9515). We will have roast beef, fried catfish, and
fried chicken complete with veggies and dessert. Start time is 1800 CDT
(2300 UTC 20 October). Based on prior experience, I expect the cost to
be about $25 a person (my original estimate of $20 may be too low). NOTE
THE TIME CORRECTION because we'll still be on Daylight Savings Time.
Members bring items for the club raffle, held every year at the banquet.
I'll be bringing a couple of items, but we need more! You can buy raffle
tickets at the door. Last year, the raffle kept us form losing money on
the banquet, so it's a big part of our Fall meeting. We will aalso
likely have a demonstration of the new OKDXA web page as well as the
formal program. It'll be a busy meeting!
Our formal program is "A High-Level Walk-Through of FT8 Algorithms," by
our own Roger Simpson, K5RKS. Like it or love it, FT8 is a big part of
DXing these days. Come learn how it works, what it was originally
intended to do, where it comes from, and what might be on the horizon.
See you there!
73,
Kim N5OP
