I'm the Faculty Advisor for the OU ARC and, for some time, the OU ARC
had a 4 el 20-6 m SteppIR on top of the National Weather Center in
Norman, installed in 2006. Probably about 4 years ago (I'm not quite
sure when it began) the antenna began to disassemble itself and 4 of the
8 half-elements have fallen off of the antenna; all have been recovered
and all are in good condition. In the near future, this antenna will be
removed and replaced with a smaller antenna from DX Engineering: a 3X10
Skyhawk.  The SteppIR was simply too big for the rotator set up we have
(a Yeasu 2800) because we keep shearing the shear bolt that secures the
mast to the rotator. The rotator is fine, but the antenna has suffered
because there are structures on top of the building that we believe
generate too much turbulence for an antenna the size of the 4 el
SteppIR. To help fund the replacement, the OUARC needs to sell the SteppIR.

The elements are retracted and so the phosphor bronze tapes are intact.
However, because the missing elements leave openings in the stepper
motor housings, we don't know their condition. The antenna's control box
is intact and should be working, though we can't test with the antenna
in it's current condition. The antenna is pick-up only and $900 takes it
in as-is condition.

Please contact me with any further questions.
